The speed of life feels crazy fast lately! In one of the energy forecast videos I watched for the month of October, Lee Harris talks about this increased speed. He points out the need for awareness of old patterns and not relying on those old patterns because this speed means that we can release that which we no longer need quickly, too. It’s not just that we experience things at a faster pace; opportunities appear at lightning speed, too. That’s what happened last week for me.                                        

The start of last week I finally got my hands on this month’s Awareness Magazine. I have an article on animal communication and a small profile on my companion animal work in this issue. This is a free local magazine you can find at the libraries among other spots. It’s also available online HERE. Please check it out and share it with your friends. And here’s where warp speed arrived. I got a call on Wednesday from a CBS 19 reporter who wanted to do a story on my energy work with companion animals. We met on Thursday for an interview and then I did a brief session with her and her dog. And ba-boom I was on the news Thursday at 6pm! You can see it HERE if you missed it. I am still rather startled at how it all happened so rapidly…and how actually I felt comfortable with it. A great experience full of layers of visibility, vulnerability, and how I am only in control of myself. On Friday I stopped in at the library and one of the employees I normally chat with came over to tell me she’d seen me on TV and that I had looked so relaxed. Who knew that all these practices of shifting myself back into that feeling/space of being connected to source would help me relax during an interview with a TV reporter?!

~Who Are You? Growing and Knowing Self~Finding or Creating Stability and Balance during Change~

I met up with a friend over the weekend to catch up. (I’m sure you’ll be shocked that we walked while we talked.) This particular friend lived through the woods from me during late elementary and middle school years. As is often the case with those of us who live in the same place that we grew up, we don’t stay in close touch with many of our friends from younger years, even when they, too, live in the same place. We had an immediate deep dive right into real conversations on life, something that happens with ease with those around whom I feel comfortable being myself. This interaction and the conversations, too, have me thinking about knowing self. While the me I was 30 years ago listening to Prince’s "Purple Rain" on the turn table in the rec room at my friend’s house is not the same me I am today writing this, the core of me is still the same. There are definitely times when I am aware of big shifts taking place within me, and other times when I know that I’m not the same as the day before, but the differences feel miniscule. This summer has been full of transformations and as I settle into this new season, I am (slightly) more comfortable navigating through life as this new me. The lifelines allowing me to find and create stability and balance over the summer during all the change were many and varied. My daily practices (morning walk, gratitude email) were my constant fuel. But other lifelines were: making sure I had quality time with specific friends (for me that was mostly one on one so I didn’t get overwhelmed); making sure to keep creativity near by listening to new music, pulling out the markers and watercolors for doodling; allowing myself plenty of down time to wander the trails with Lilly, scan the skies for birds, sink into good stories. Balance, as I’ve said before, is not an end point, it is a verb and is always in play. As we are always changing, we are seeking a balance whether that is a balance between being and doing, socializing and alone time, mental focused and heart centered, giving and receiving…you get the picture. While I don’t have a specific list for each of you, here are few things to keep in mind as ways to find and create stability and balance when you are in the midst of deep change.

  • Physical motion: walk, dance, hatha yoga, run, hoola hoop, etc.
  • Creativity, both making and soaking in others’: music, photography, drawing, painting, knitting, cooking, sewing, woodworking, gardening, etc.
  • Human connection: quality is important here.
  • Nature connection: focusing on how you are a part of your surroundings, the innate beauty of Gaia, this magnificent organism.

Explore what feeds you and what doesn’t, what resonates and what doesn’t. Keep a list of what you try that feels good and right. And bring this list out when you’re feeling overwhelmed or out of sync or like a chrysalis all wrapped up with massive transformation happening deep inside. Remember that as you change your list may also change. Growth is often cyclical or in a spiral, so breathe in, breathe out: you are always new and you are always you.

Nature Note:

Creatures are on the move: migrating, out on their own for the first time, foraging farther for food in the dry conditions. Keep an eye out for birds, insects, rodents and larger mammals. Lately our morning walks are full. We see bats, lots of fox scat (no sightings recently), pack of 9 stunning red coywolves, skunks, deer, eagles, kestrels, flocks of: geese, ducks, meadowlarks, red-winged blackbirds, cedar waxwings. And we took a trail walk last week and saw a bear. Lilly’s behavior along with a recently partially excavated ground wasp nest right off the trail meant I was on the lookout for a bear. Lilly gave one alert bark when we came upon the immature bear and in a flash the bear was off away. Who are you seeing? Stay safe and look to your fellow animals for reminders that we are all part of this magnificent life and for new perspectives on your own life.

~Welcome, Autumn~How to Deal with the Decrease in Daily Light~

Autumn has arrived. It is still rather warm, but the day before the equinox the leaves on the maples around our house suddenly started falling. What is this season for you? I don’t mean the trendy pumpkin spice stuff. I mean, what are your rhythms for this season? Whether due to the lack of light when you aren’t at work or the desire to cozy in and craft or read in those darker mornings or evenings, is there a change in your outdoors time? I suggest finding even 2 minutes to be outside if your time outside is decreasing. Maybe that means heading out 2 minutes before you normally would to hop in the car and head to work. Take that time to walk the yard or driveway, or maybe sit or stand still. Whether you choose to move or be still, just soak it all in. Eyes open, softly scanning your surroundings or zooming in on something specific. Eyes closed, feeling the quality of the light on your eyelids. There are so many options in 2 minutes. Think of it as a refueling of your light levels for the day.

~Contracting and Expanding~Changing Rhythms~

Recently I have had a few sessions with companion animals where the difference in their energetic size from the start to the end of the session has been dramatic. In one session with a cat, Lulu, at the end even as I took my hands away I could feel her still expanding. She wasn’t “done” even though our time working together was. In another session with a dog, Reaper, even though it was our first time working together, he was already expanding as I connected with him before I even introduced myself. We all contract, expand, and stagnate. Being aware of our current state of being can be really helpful in navigating both upheaval and calm. Knowing what each state feels like for you and knowing how to move from state to state is key in being the whole you at any given moment. This shift from contraction, or stagnation, to expansion can happen from a tiny nudge or may need a more prolonged interaction. Patterns are created from repetition and sometimes we aren’t even aware of the repetition until the pattern itself is pulling us along and we suddenly realize that we haven’t “seen” something different in a while. If we think of ourselves as musical instruments, we need to keep tuning ourselves all day long. As we are playing the symphony of our lives, we need to tune, re-tune, and re-tune some more. In addition to tuning, we can adjust the way we are relating to the world around us by changing rhythms and tempos. Here are a couple of exercises to play with as you explore contraction, stagnation, and expansion.

Exercise 1:

At some point when you are walking in a big space, inside or outside, change things up and jog a few steps or skip or slow down so your body is moving in slow motion. Change the speed and actual movements of your body. Notice what this feels like. What changes: physically, emotionally, mentally, energetically? Try this exercise at least once a day for several days and take note of how this changes the rhythms of your hour, day, week.

Exercise 2:

Get some tunes ready. Choose some slow and some fast. Turn them on and dance. Notice what feels good and what doesn’t. Check in with how you feel after you dance. How do the different tempos make you feel? Pay attention to the rhythms of your day and which tempos feel better at which times. Does it feel good to get amped up before you go to bed? Maybe it does, because it lets you crash out differently. There are no right or wrong ways to do this. Explore and find what works for you.

~How to Navigate these Intense Energies~Let’s Choose Growth~

There has been so much happening in the last several weeks from white supremacy in full visible force going so far as to commit an act of terrorism here in Charlottesville to the continued examples of how the old structures of government have been unable to flex and grow over the years and are now obsolete and thus have no way to deal with the massive unraveling we are witnessing from the top down. From Harvey’s huge destruction in the United States to the floods in South Asia affecting some 40 million. It’s hard to find time to breathe. And in the midst of this was the Great American Eclipse. I am not normally physically affected by weather or astrological shifts, but I was physically agitated from midday Sunday through Tuesday morning after the eclipse. I felt like I was vibrating at a weird frequency from the skin all the way in. The echoes of the eclipse transformations are still rippling through me and will probably continue that way through the equinox.

How am I dealing with this intensity? I am focusing on my daily practices that keep me centered, aligned, and aware of my connection to source. My morning walks, gratitude emails, and ongoing conversations with my guides and allies are the strands of web I strengthen every day helping me to stay aware of myself in the center of this web of light.

How are you dealing with this intensity? Are you struggling? Are you taking time for self care? As beings of light, we are all affected (whether we notice or not) by rapid change in the amount of daylight. August has the biggest daily decreases in daylight and that has definitely made an impact on how we have navigated these intense energies.

Here’s a short exercise to help you maintain your connection to light. Take a few minutes to stand or sit outside in the light. Close your eyes, feel your feet connected to the earth. Feel the light touch your skin and invite that light into you. Allow the cells of your skin and hair to absorb the light. Feel the light continue into your body until your whole body is full of light. Take a moment to really notice how you feel all full of light. As you’re ready, open your eyes and step forward, shining your light as you go. The world needs you, so let yourself shine brightly.

I don’t know about you, but one of the reasons I am here in this human existence is to experience growth. Growth, whether outward or inward, macrocosmic or microcosmic, draws you into the All, brings you into the merging. The current events with racists so visible and vocal are a really big point of change or opportunity for growth for everyone. We all either benefit or are harmed by racism. No one of is unaffected. I am taking the events of August 12 in Charlottesville as a marker to stand up in a new way for people of color. I am being vocal at times I previously wouldn’t have spoken. I am engaging in dialogue to educate other whites and bring examples of white privilege to their attention. These conversations are not easy and so far they are stark examples of how poorly people are able to hear words other than those they are expecting and used to. Am I an expert? Hell no. But if we all wait until we’re experts, nothing will ever change. What I am is someone willing to hear and see other perspectives and take those into consideration. What I am is an explorer of self, of others, and of where we all merge as one. I invite you to join me in hearing what is being said. It is time to change and we are the agents of that change. Together we will create a new world.

~How Do We Respond to Acts of Terrorism?~We Are All One~

A few years ago I led a heart to heart cross species guided meditation to a group of kids. This is a guided meditation I have been leading for years, usually one on one but sometimes in small groups. These kids got it right away. It? What did they get? I asked them to share their experiences and one kid said, “It’s like there wasn’t any difference between us, we were the same.” He was relating his experience connecting heart to heart with another species (a cat, I think) and how he knew he was a human and he was connecting with a cat, while he also experienced/knew that they are, at the core, the same. This is the it that is an important view shifter as a living being.

This weekend in my hometown of Charlottesville there was a white supremacy rally that led to an act of terrorism where a white man purposefully and at high speed drove his car into a group of peaceful protesters. One woman was killed and 19 other people injured. This is just one hate event hitting so close to home, but this happens daily all over the world. This can happen in any town.

There are so many questions that arise from an attack like this. And there is much to be said on the evolution, personal and collective consciousness, of humans at this time. But I want to focus on one way we, as individuals, can help change things in a positive way. When someone is stuck with one narrow viewpoint and maintains that viewpoint by limiting his/her friends to people who hold the same viewpoint, stagnation is going to be the outcome. And what often comes from this stagnation is a divisive sense of us vs. them. When we seek out the perspectives of those who are not like us in some way, whatever way that may be, we can experience that the “Truth is one, paths are many” as Mahatma Gandhi said. By interacting with beings who are not our ideological or physical or gender (etc.) twins we can not only open to different perspectives, but also experience that inner core of all beings where we are all exactly the same: energetic beings of love. This is not just a mental exercise; this is where we have to make the connection and bring it into the physical world. We have to take the step to manifest this expansion and growth to bring this mental concept into the human collective consciousness.

One of my big themes in this life is perspectives. And my feathered allies are amazing teachers on just this topic. It’s not just about seeing the big picture or zooming in to see the details. It’s about seeing experiences as perspectives. We are connecting with other beings and using our hearts to explore experiences instead of just observing. There is suffering and joy. There is strife and peace. Whether you bring cross-species connections to people who may not have had the opportunity to experience them, or you find people who are not identical to you and work together on a project of some sort, or just go to social events where you won’t know all the people, you can actively open to new perspectives. Engaging in dialogue on topics of the mundane and the deep, we can expand our experience and have compassion for others and their experiences. We can continue to choose love and compassion over fear and hate.

This is only the tip of the iceberg of what our response can be to acts of violence and hatred. But, I am choosing to start a conversation because this is about all of humanity and I am here as a member of this species to remember I am (already) one with all humans and all beings. ~August Energy Forecast: New Views Available, Expand Now~

The energies available this month showed up in a giant flash, you’ll soon see how appropriate that is. We tend to prefer the world of dualism where everything is black or white and right or wrong. Dualism has a place, but it’s an easy and, can be, lazy way of looking at life. This month we have eclipses and they provide us with the macrocosmic version of shifting perspectives of light and dark. Lunar eclipse is on August 7th and solar eclipse is on August 21st. How magical! This is a time of both individual and collective growth and expansion from the dualistic view to a multitude of new views. This is not about replacing a “wrong” view with a “right” view (remember everything is not always dualistic); this is about recognizing the myriad ways of looking at, experiencing, and being light and dark. Along with the eclipses, Mercury goes retrograde on the 12th which gives us the chance to revisit stuff and clear it away altogether this time, or notice the growth or stagnation. Specifically it is creating the space, and time, for checking in with past views of light and dark, again both individual and collective.

My suggestions for the month are the following. Breathe light. Before you go to sleep at night, close your eyes and breathe in light. Notice if the light has a color or not. Notice if it feels easy or hard to fill yourself with light. Notice how you feel. Repeat this exercise as often as feels good. Spend as much time as you can in the light, whether that is the moon or the sun. Notice the colors. Really delve into the concept that the world is made of light. And take your time, whatever it is you are doing this month, move with presence and awareness.

~Warning! Side Effect: Deep Relaxation~Get in Sync with Your Pets~

Animal communicators come in many forms. While I consider myself an animal communicator, the scope of my work lies more in the energy work clearing and improving the communication between you and your companion animal than in me asking and receiving information from your critter. Pets already know about the heart to heart connection, but once you, the human, have experienced this connection and have a different awareness of it, pets will often begin to communicate and connect with you in new ways. Typically in the week or two after an initial session with me, people notice the differences. They may be subtle, like the dog suddenly wants to be physically closer when the person is home, or they may be more drastic, like eye contact that perfectly conveys unspoken communication.

During times of transition, working with me can provide energetic support to allow everyone to stay in balance and adjust more comfortably to the change. Here are a few examples of transitions that have prompted a session with me: a home is in renovation, moving to a new home, when a new cat or dog or person is joining the family, or when someone is ill. I also have a specific session designed for death, the transition from the physical plane which not only provides support as your pet leaves her or his body, but gives you images and messages that comfort you and provide you with a different perspective of this experience. Just by making an appointment, you are setting the intention to show up for a dedicated space and time focusing on family care. (Not that different than making time for self-care.) A little bit goes a long way and the most common comment after a session with me is, “I am so relaxed.” Usually the dog or cat and the person have experienced a deep relaxation together which is the best kind of side effect. Relaxation is where the magic happens!

~Thriving in the Heat of Summer~

In case you hadn't noticed it, it's HOT out there! We are moving into the heart of the fire that is summer. I've been hearing from folks that even if they aren't experiencing a rough ride, their loved ones are. We are already under the energy of the shadow of the eclipse season and many of us are experiencing a breakdown of old structures and the way these breakdowns manifest is so varied. Some of these breakdowns seem like surprises while others are old patterns making themselves known again. They are showing up in the physical body, the emotional and mental bodies, the spiritual and energy bodies. The societal, cultural, and political structures are on fire with these breakdowns. The planet herself is in breakdown.

The element of fire is about transformation. I'm clearly not the only one in the midst of transformation this summer. In Naisha Ahsian's book with The Crystal Ally Cards she writes, "The Element of Fire has appeared as a signal for you to prepare for a transformation! You are being initiated in a 'trial by Fire' that will create drastic change in your experience of the physical world." How does this resonate with you? I'm finding this fits with my own experience as well as with what I hear from friends, clients, and strangers.

So, how do we not just survive this fire and heat of summer, but thrive? The specific card you see above is not just a fire card, it's Topaz with the key word Intention. Lilly loves dock diving!

The midsummer transformation of mine is still in flow. For the last couple of weeks I have been noticing how just being me is such a different experience now. I feel as though there’s been such a massive clearing of old patterns (some not even mine) that I now have all this empty space within my being. And as I expand my inner core self out into all of my being, time spent just being me is so important. Little reminders have popped up recently to show me the sharp contrast of before (sometimes years ago, sometimes only months ago) and now. Do you ever have moments when you are aware you are making an important choice even if you have no idea why or how it’s important? I have had a number of situations recently where a spotlight is shining and I know it’s an important choice. The clarity that is showing up, so far, feels like a spiral where I know I need to say yes only to find that the yes leads me to a no: a clear knowing that this (whatever it is) is not for me. So, I am clearer on that which is not in alignment with me even as I am aware that I am not clearer on what it is exactly that is in alignment. And there’s that trust again. I do know there are deeper rumblings within me as something new takes form. But for now, I will just be me since that is why I am here.

~Mirrors and Connections~

A magical piece of this human experience is synchronicities. I find there are times, typically the bigger transformation points, when I notice them all around me, and other times when I do not notice them as often. One of the interesting bits for me in the end of this month is the synchronicities with mirrors. I enjoyed a good fantasy read earlier in the month which has a magical mirror called the Ouroboros (which is the ancient image of the snake or dragon eating its own tail as a symbol of wholeness). No one has been able to claim this mirror for hundreds of years because to claim it you must look into it. No one remembers the last being to claim it. It’s been in the same place for so long, and those who have looked into it have died. But this character is desperate and called to claim the mirror. When she looks into it she sees all of herself, the good and the bad, and understands that those who have died looking into it have not been able to accept themselves as all they see. Just days after reading this book, I was led through a centering exercise where there was a mirror in front of me that reflected my divine self. And a day later while in conversation with a friend, we were mirrors for each other. The Power Path writes that the forecast for June is all about a Reality Check. I am finding that these mirrors are an interesting tool for this Reality Check which is happening on so many different levels. With the solstice and new moon last week, I feel like a different being with new patterns from my deep inner core radiating outward creating a new life externally. The big theme for me, the second half of this month especially, is connections. Not only am I aware of new patterns and ease of connecting with other humans (always easier for me to connect across species), but the opportunities for connections abound. The new way the presence of my feathered allies provides me with not just a feeling of support, but a knowing I am connected and one with source. And the clouds this month have been beautiful and huge, stretching across miles of the sky. When I am cloud watching I feel so tiny, but at the same time I feel connected to the all and am as massive as the whole sky, one with the clouds. Just past midnight tonight is the official solstice point. If you pay attention to the actual sunrise and sunset times, you’ll see that we have several days of almost the same amount of light. And it’s so much light! With the new season, I want to get the word out on some upcoming events.

~A Time of Blossoming: News, Visibility, and Light~

The summer solstice is almost here and there is new life everywhere: fox kits romping at their den, eaglet stretching wings on the nest, tadpoles growing their legs, bees busy on the milkweed as it blooms. Perhaps because I was born near the winter solstice, perhaps because of my deep knowing that I am a part of this magnificent planet, I find the summer solstice to be a time of blossoming on all levels. There is growth and motion inside of me that is expanding out to manifest in the physical world. And I am allowing the growth and motion of the world around me to seep into me, both changing and sustaining me. Part of this blossoming is a connecting more completely with the light that I am, the light that we all are. With days that stretch long, filled with light, I welcome that added support. With this deepening remembrance of my light being, comes an old resistance to being seen. Last Friday’s full moon gave me an extra boost to release more of that old resistance, and let my light shine unheeded by my previously created (some from other lifetimes) shields and buffers. As is the way when in flow with source, an opportunity for wider visibility appeared this spring, and I am excited to announce that I am featured in the psychic profile in the June issue of Awareness Magazine (page 50 if you go looking).  

I have been feeling a little push and pull around a solstice celebration and am not sure what form it may take. If you are interested in one, I would love to hear if you’d rather have one in person or by phone or maybe even a Facebook Live. As the solstice is officially on the 21st at 12:24 am EDT, the celebration could be either the 20th or 21st. ~The Rest of Lilly’s Name and Inner Tectonic Plates Have Shifted~

Since Lilly arrived a little more than a year ago, we have been on many swimming outings. She loves to swim for her squeaky ball, and is far easier on her body in the water than she is scrambling madly on the earth. Most of her swims are at public lakes which means there are usually other people around. She draws attention with her exuberance, powerful launching, and serious focus. And she has a following; people of all ages and sorts are fascinated by her. Just this weekend we were out for her swim and a couple strolling around the lake came to a halt to watch her. When we did a few practice launches from the dock, the man sat down, pulled out his phone and videoed her launches, smiling the whole time. The couple sat and watched her swim for at least 10 or 15 minutes and thanked me when they left. Just like when people tell me she’s beautiful and I reply, “Lilly says thank you,” when people thank me for getting to watch her swim, I say, “Lilly is glad you’ve enjoyed it.” She was just over 2 years old when she came to me and there was never any question of changing her name, but I did discover in the last month that there is more to her name. She is Lilly, Bringer of Joy.

This past year with Lilly has been one of deep level growth for both of us. Since late winter, I have had continued messages that June would be a pivotal month for me, personally, and for my business. No details, just a knowing that there is a new unfolding occurring. Last Monday, not even June yet, things started shifting in the physical plane, and this past week has given me a peek into what this month will be like: exciting with a new flow, clarity, and light. I am still grounded in this being, this time, this planet, but my tectonic plates have shifted, especially with the transformation experiences in May. I continue to feel as though my ability to connect with other humans, previously something that was far harder than connecting with other species, is opening wide. Thanks to Lilly, Bringer of Joy, I am more aware of my connections with all beings. My years of gratitude practice and this year with Lilly are the foundation for this new more solid experience of the double helix flow of gratitude and joy, an experience of being one with source that Naisha Ahsian describes in her Crystal Ally Cards.

With the solstice coming up this month, we’re in the stretch of the longest days of the year. The colors of the world are rich and layered. The plants and animals are full of life. There is always powerful energy to connect with on this planet. Remember to connect to source, Gaia, the stars, breathe, and be you.

~Redefining Self through Transformation~

Everyday there are a multitude of experiences we repeat. Much of life is a stream of events that are not new. We easily slide through our days in that routine of expecting exactly what has happened before without realizing that we’re expecting and relying on all those repeated events. The earth turns all the time providing us with sunrises and sunsets every day. We get up, eat, and go about our day with so many regularly scheduled happenings that we can’t even single them out. But, sometimes we are shaken from that routine and our response to being out of the routine has the potential to be a point of transformation.

Two times in the last month I have woken up in the morning and had an experience of not knowing. Not knowing who I am, what I am, where I am, what I am doing. It’s only a flash, but I am suspended in a space of being without the connections or attachments with my physical, emotional, and mental bodies. In this pause, I am purely the energy or spiritual me that is always aware of being one with source. It feels like a deep level reset. The first time it happened, it stayed with me for days and I felt aware of this new me. This morning I woke up to a similar experience. Not exactly the same, but still a suspended moment without those connections to my bodies other than my energy or spiritual body. Again, there is a feeling or knowing that deep level beliefs and patterns have been cleared. And here I am, feeling more like me, but in a way I never could have imagined.

I receive information intuitively most often through clairsentience which is clear knowing. So, the information does not come in visually or aurally or through physical sensations. One way of describing it is that it’s sort of like I have an open line to a reference librarian who provides me with a whole chunk of information as a whole chunk. The information is often delivered in a ninja-like move that is too fast and stealthy for me to notice. When I studied with Anastasia Gourley, an animal communicator, I spent a lot of time exploring this clairsentience and how to receive and interact with it. There was quite a bit of learning to discern the edge of what is me thinking something versus knowing it from source. These experiences of waking up as a new me, feel like clairsentience except I get a moment to experience before or within the ninja-like delivery.

Things are rippling out from these deep level resets into the rest of me and my life, and seemingly disparate aspects of self are suddenly cohesive. Are you experiencing shifts in your inner core? ~Expectations, Shmexpectations: Growth and Transformation~

~Remember to Be Kind to Yourself~

Just this week I’ve watched three fox kits alternately romping and resting by their den, and I’ve seen the eaglet, almost a fledgling now, flapping her/his wings about, preening, and moving around the nest. At the same time, the blue birds are about to start on their second brood of the season and it’s time to start planting some of the annuals as we near the end of our frost date range. Growth happens at different times and different speeds across all aspects of life. And we tend to have old, inner voices that leap into action and set random expectations, criticize, and judge which can make growth horribly uncomfortable and flat out despairing. Expectations are often the blinders that shape our view. In the last week I’ve had two specific incidents where I was aware of expectations or assumptions limiting the view. I was at a Kris Kristofferson concert and as I sat down, the woman next to me said hello. And I replied. She then said, “Do you even know who Kris Kristofferson is?” I was rather startled but, calmly responded that I do know who he is. She continued to speak coming from what seemed to be a view that only people just like her would have any desire to be at this show. I maintained a lightness and kindness in my response but may have slightly shaken up her perspective. And the other day when I took Lilly swimming, I made assumptions about a person at the park. I was aware of my assumptions but got a push from our interaction to drop those assumptions. She spoke to me as I was putting Lilly back in the car, and we had a lovely conversation where she told me, “I just loved watching her swim to get that ball!” Thanks to Lilly, I got the clear message that these expectations our minds like to create limit our experience of the fullness of life. I have been reminded numerous times and in numerous ways, lately, that kindness to self or others can be a balm to many a situation. And being kind to ourselves regarding our own growth on any level is so helpful. By being kind to ourselves as we’re busy here, being human, perfect in our imperfections, we are nurturing ourselves and supporting that growth.

I am aware of lots of transformation going on right now for people, transformation in all areas and levels of our lives and beings. I’m hearing from clients, friends, and even random human interactions just how much is changing now. Shifting into that heart centered perspective of love and connection with Source, supports and allows continued transformation. So, breathe, settle into your heart space, and be the light you are! ~Bringing Light to Death~Transitions~

There is an aspect of my work that is harder to share because death is a topic we often shy away from talking about. But, today I want to bring light to this area of my work because it is important, and I want you to know about it. Back when the only work I did with companion animals was massage, I started noticing that people specifically called on me for hands on work with their dying dogs. After a few times, I sat with this and explored what this meant for me. I realized that I could offer both the humans and the 4-legged making the transition something different. And the first experience I was honored to have supporting a dog during his transition, was so powerful and felt so right, that I knew this was something to follow. The first dog I supported at his actual passing was Gunnar, a much loved and kind fellow. I will never forget that his first response to me checking in with him was to make sure I helped his people since they needed me more than he did. Love at the core and love in its core.

When I’m working with extremely ill or dying animals, I’m there as support for the energetic structure of their beings during the transition out of this physical plane. What does this look like? Each session is unique because each being is unique, but the general outline of the session looks like this. I announce myself and ask permission to be present. I ask if there’s anything specific she or he wants or needs from me. I ask if there is anything she or he wants or needs to share with her or his human(s). As you can see these are pretty open questions and thus, the difference in the sessions has to do with the responses. Afterwards, I write up notes of the dog or cat’s response to me and what images or messages or other beings showed up during the session and email this all to the human(s). I strive to always be open to magic, yet I continue to be amazed by the power of these experiences and the bright lights that shine at the inner core of our companion animals no matter their presence in the physical plane or not.

With the terminally ill companion animals, the work is often more supportive of clearing any stuck connections allowing the critter and the human to have clarity around the actual transition, and there is often work to relieve any pain during this time, too.

It’s almost been a year since I said good-bye to Dixie, my Australian Shepherd. And while I miss her presence by my side, the experience I had as she breathed her last breath at the vet’s office was so profound and powerful that it is what I am aware of more than missing her. She was my sister and teacher, and my work with the heart to heart connections between beings might not even be my work if not for her. As I sat with her head in one hand, the other hand resting on her side, I felt her fill my heart. She left her old, falling apart physical body behind, and once freed from it her energetic self was stronger and I could feel our connection, our merging, from and within the heart space. This is one of those times when words are too limiting to convey the experience, but in the simplest of terms, I felt her move, from a separate being connected to my heart, straight into my heart as her full residence fully as one with me.

While I love words, I also love the aspect of my work that is beyond words. Part of the experience on my end working with both humans and their companion animals that is so rewarding and amazing, is creating and holding the space for the awareness of this communication beyond words and allowing it to occur and be received. This piece of supporting beings in their transition out of the physical plane is closely related to this powerful space of that which is beyond words. I find that the humans who request this work from me feel the power, too. I am the conduit of the information and the human who reads it finds resonance.

~Get Out of Your Head and Into Your Heart~

It doesn't matter how much you study, read, or converse on the big topics of life, change, meditation, wisdom, if you can't find a way to bring these concepts into this physical plane and live them, it’s all a rather moot point. I still consider myself quite the greenhorn at this human being thing, yet I know that over the last 5 years I have been drawing more and more of these ideas into my body in new ways.
 
With my walking practice, I laugh at how I am walking my talk rather literally. And while I'm laughing, I also continue to be amazed by the solidity I feel as I embody these esoteric and etheric concepts. Some of the impetus for this new class, Bridge the Gap, comes from newfound clarity around the tools that have been strongest and most helpful as I link the energetic with the physical and embody these metaphysical concepts. The journey of the class will include some of these tools as well as in depth exploration:

  • of your current state
  • of both old and new boundaries, paths, patterns
  • mapping new terrain through both inner and outer realms
  • finding support when bridging the gap

All from the comfort of your own home, you’ll receive 2 emails weekly which will include 1 recorded guided meditation, and have access to a designated online space where all class members are free to comment on the content, practices and their own experiences, and engage in dialogue. One of the key aspects of my work is not just guiding you into your heart space, but really helping you to shift your awareness to this heart center perspective. The EMF (electromagnetic field) of the heart is 5,000 times greater than the EMF of the brain. And just from a scientific point of view, that’s a huge amount of energy (information in motion) available! There is no throne for the ego in the heart space. You get a totally different sense of existence.
 
The most basic of ways to shift your attention from your head to your heart is to place your hand on your sternum. To begin with you’ll want to have your eyes closed. But after you’ve worked with this and are aware of your shift into your heart center, try it with your eyes open. Notice if your breathing changes. Often just by placing your hand on your heart, your breath will change; typically a bigger and deeper breath is the body’s first response. Just add this into your day wherever you can: lying in bed before you go to sleep, in your regular meditation practice, before you eat a meal. And start to pay attention to this new sense of awareness, this new perspective of yourself and the world.
 
At the end of a session I always check in to see how the client is feeling. The most common response is, “I’m very relaxed,” followed by more details. We’re in our final week of April and I chose (and am still choosing) to laugh when the sway bar on my car broke…a foundation level change even for my car. Are you still noticing foundation level changes?

It feels like a good time for a card for the week. I pulled out Steven Farmer's Earth Magic oracle cards since we've just had Earth Day. The card that pops up is Eagle with the key word Communion. Notice the moments when you share in deep ways with others. You might even take a moment during your week to create a space for an exchange of some spiritual feelings. Remember that exchange can be a communing with nature, not just other humans. And look for eagles this week! I am so grateful for the pair who nest up the road from my home. If anyone ever wants an eagle sighting, I'd be happy to host a brief eagle visit. Just let me know. Be sure to look at the photo above...do you see the cloud eagle?

~ It's Time to Choose Something Different ~

The energies of April may be wild, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t support for you. There is massive support right now for you to choose an option you have never chosen before. I keep hearing from clients and friends alike that they are making new, foundation level choices. Maybe you’re noticing this week that it’s a little easier to see options where you couldn’t see them before. The full moon has helped clear out some of the residual stuff, whatever and wherever you’ve been working on your inner journey, and your filters and perspectives are shifting. Just yesterday I spoke to four people who all had something to share about changes in deep level choices.
 
With the arrival of spring and days already stretching longer with light, there is a natural increase in the speed of life. You might feel like your calendar is filling up super quickly. A new relationship with self-care is a great place to try something different. Maybe that means you’re going to aim for 30 minutes every week that is dedicated to you in whatever shape that may take. Perhaps you’re feeling like 5 minutes a day of creative drawing or word play is what feels right. I recommend you pull out your calendar, grab a colored pen, and mark out some time for self-care.
